Members of the clergy and some youthful politicians have hailed President Dr Lazarus Chakwera’s decision in appointing Vitumbiko Mumba as the new Minister of Labour, saying he is walking the talk on youth promotion.
CCAP Livingstonia Synod’s Secretary General, Reverend William Tembo, said this is a sign that President Chakwera is committed to promoting inclusivity in his decision making programmes.
“We are urging Mumba to continue working with dedication and we hope the president will continue honouring his promises,” said Tembo.
UTM Youth Wing member, Shaggy Mhlanga, echoed similar sentiments at the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Regional Office in Mzuzu during a thank you meeting conducted by the newly appointed minister.
MCP Regional Chairperson for North-South, Joseph Chavula, said time for camps is now long gone and called on people to support Dr Lazarus Chakwera to continue developing the country.
Mumba thanked Dr Lazarus Chakwera for the honour and promised to promote transparency and youth empowerment programmes.
President Chakwera announced Mumba’s appointment during the national address on Wednesday.
Mumba has succeeded Agness Nyalonje, who resigned from the position last week.
