President Dr Lazarus Chakwera on Tuesday attended the opening of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, where US President Joe Biden delivered the keynote address.
President Chakwera is scheduled to deliver his address to the General Assembly on Friday, aiming to garner global support for Malawi’s developmental priorities.
After attending the opening session, Dr Chakwera held bilateral talks with the President of Ireland, Michael Higgins.
During the meeting, President Chakwera expressed his satisfaction with the existence of cordial relations between the two governments.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo, said the Irish government is committed to assisting Malawi and Africa in finding solutions to improving food security.
