Chakwera applauds Malawi U19 Women’s Cricket team victory

President Lazarus Chakwera, alongside First Lady Monica Chakwera, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Malawi U19 Women’s National Cricket Team for their achievement of winning six consecutive matches to secure the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Qualifiers Cup.

The President expressed his pride in the team’s success and urged all Malawians to rally behind them as they aim for further glory.

President Chakwera is confident that the team has the potential to continue making the nation proud and to qualify for the Under-19 T20 World Cup in Malaysia in 2025.

The team’s championship victory was sealed with a thrilling 2-wicket win over Kenya at the Gahanga Oval Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda. Ketrina Chingaipe’s standout performance, scoring 28 runs off 23 balls and taking a crucial wicket, earned her the title of Player of the Match.
