Some Prison formations in the central region have been recognised with certificates of excellence for their exceptional performance in various aspects of prison management.
Central Region Prison Headquarters presented the certificates to the formations during the end-of-year party for its officers in the region at Nalikule Teacher’s College in Lilongwe, which was themed ‘Towards Correction Service: Reflecting on the Year’s Achievements’.
Dedza Prison has been recognised for remarkable transformation and improvements in various aspects of prison management. It has demonstrated a commitment to excellence, rehabilitation and upholding human rights, notably ending malnutrition and introducing three meals a day.
Kasungu Prison has been recognised for effectively implementing the Unit Management Model, demonstrating exceptional leadership, management and organisational skills.
Lilongwe Prison, commonly known as Maula Prison, has received the certificate for Financial Prudence and Proper Use of Public Resources. Nkhota-Kota Prison has been awarded for doing well in income-generating activities.
Kachere Women Prison in Area 2, Lilongwe, has been recognised for doing well in Security Management.
The other prison formation that has been recognised is Bzyanzi Young Offenders Prison in Dowa,
