Philanthropist and social media influencer Chawezi Banda, also known as Chacha, has pledged to support community policing and infrastructure development at Lingadzi Police Station after being appointed the station’s ambassador.
The appointment was formalised on Friday through a three-year partnership agreement between Chacha and the police station.
Speaking after signing the agreement, Chacha said she was eager to use her influence and charitable work to help address some of the challenges facing the station.
“I am excited to be the ambassador. I have toured this place and seen the challenges and where we need to help. I am committed to my role in helping the station become a better place,” said Chacha.

The United States-based Malawian said the partnership would focus on strengthening ties between police officers and surrounding communities while supporting projects aimed at improving service delivery.
Lingadzi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Charles James Mpezeni described the appointment as an important step towards improving the station’s operations and facilities.
“Though Lingadzi Police is a station, it lacks some of the amenities and facilities required for its designation. We believe Chacha will be able to mobilise resources to improve facilities here,” said Mpezeni.
He added that the station also expects her to play a key role in community outreach programmes, public awareness campaigns and youth engagement initiatives.
“She will also assist us in publicity, community and youth engagement. She has already demonstrated her commitment through the construction of a shelter at this station,” added Mpezeni.

Earlier this year Chacha financed the construction of a shelter at the station.
