In a drive to promote quality education and a stronger reading culture among students, Moyo Ngwathu, a local non-governmental organisation, has handed over a fully furnished library to Mpingu Community Day Secondary School in Lilongwe.
The new facility, complete with bookshelves, furniture, and more than 450 teaching and learning materials, was handed over following extensive renovations to the school building.

The initiative, valued at K25 million, was made possible through funding from Stiftung Hilfe für Malawi, a German charity that supports development efforts in Malawi.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Joseph Nkhata, Education Division Manager for the Central West Education Division, applauded the project, saying it will go a long way towards addressing challenges faced by many rural schools.
“Many schools struggle with inadequate libraries and learning facilities. We are very grateful for what Moyo Ngwathu has done,” said Nkhata.
The organisation’s efforts at Mpingu CDSS follow another recent act of compassion in Traditional Authority Mbwatalika, where Moyo Ngwathu donated 50 kilograms of maize flour to elderly families affected by food shortages.
Through these initiatives, Moyo Ngwathu continues to strengthen its reputation as a community-focused organisation dedicated to education, empowerment, and the welfare of vulnerable households.
