New Dawn Boxing receives boost for Mzuzu boxing return

Two construction companies, Shilpa and Meraton, have partnered to sponsor New Dawn Boxing Promotion, injecting K5 million each to revive the lost glory of boxing in Mzuzu City.

Scheduled for 29 December, the boxing contest will feature Limbani Lano taking on Brighton Mcheni in the main fight, while Natasha Maya will face off against Mphatso Metaudzu in an intense ladies’ clash.

Shilpa Construction Managing Director, Kondwani Msowoya, said his company wants to be part of the process to bring back Mzuzu’s boxing glory.

“As Malawian companies, we are passionate about youth empowerment and sports development. We want to bring back the excitement to Mzuzu, which has been starved of action,” Msowoya explained.

New Dawn Boxing Promotion Director, Michael Chimaliza, praised the sponsors, calling them “true champions” for their unwavering support.

Should the event proceed as planned, it will mark the end of a five-year boxing drought in Mzuzu.
