Kammwamba households receive Social Cash Transfer

Neno District Commissioner, Rosemary Nawasha, has hailed the Unified Beneficiary Registry (UBR) as a game-changer for accurately identifying beneficiaries of the Mtukula Pakhomo Social Cash Transfer at Kammwamba in the district.

Nawasha noted that the re-targeting exercise is flawless as it does not allow manipulation.

“Those benefiting are those that are really in need. No one has a chance of slotting in their relatives as was the case before,” she explained.

People at Kammwamba started receiving their monthly allowance on Thursday.

One of the beneficiaries, Lucia Thomas, was ecstatic.

“I can’t believe that my name has appeared for Mtukula Pakhomo,” Thomas said.

The exercise will also take place in 26 other centres.
