Matola condemns vandalism of power line

Minister of Energy Ibrahim Matola has strongly condemned the vandalism of the L25 Mulambe line on the Illovo Tea Estate, which has left Nchalo, Jombo, Miseu 4, and Ngabu Trading Centres without electricity.

On Sunday morning, unknown individuals cut down a utility pole, causing extensive damage to the powerline infrastructure and disrupting essential services to the communities.

Matola then called for prompt collective efforts to address the issue and urged ESCOM to restore power, enhance security measures, and educate locals on the negative effects of such behaviour.

Matola expressed concern over the act, citing photographic evidence that shows the extent of the damage caused by the vandals, who have not only disrupted essential services but also endangered public safety.
