50 participate in Chitipa motorcycle race

50 motorcyclists are competing in the second edition of a motorcycle race at Misuku in Chitipa.

Member of Parliament for Chitipa East, Kezzie Msukwa, hatched the idea which the district council embraced as a means of promoting tourism in the area.

The competition has this year received financial support from Motorinhno motorcycles to the tune of K20 Million.

The top prize is K2 million while the second-place finisher will receive K1.5 million and the third place will earn K1 million.

According to Chitipa District Council officials, there will be consolation prizes for all the participating athletes.

Last year’s winner Austin Mbene received K500,000 after completing the 48 Kilometre distance in 34 Minutes.
