Zeze Kingston opts out of future award contests

One of the country’s celebrated Amapiano star, Zeze Kingston has called upon his fans to stop nominating him in any future awards.

In a statement, Zeze said the move is to pave way for other new and upcoming artists to be nominated and awarded as well.

While many of his fans have described his move as a sign of maturity and humbleness, other music lovers have started questioning the authenticity of the awards that the artists get in the country.

One music fan, Shalom Chiramiramadzi wondered as to how he can step aside from future nominations as if it is automatic that he will be nominated and awarded in any future awards.

Zeze came to the limelight in 2022 after releasing two hit songs “Ndathera pano” and “Vuto ndi chani”. His 2023 “Kusangalala” song also propelled him to stardom.

He won male Artist of the Year and Best Live Act during the 2023 Maso Awards beating Gwamba, Lulu, Tay Grin and Piksy.
