SALIMA DISTRICT COUNCIL TO PLANT 5 MILLION TREES

Salima District Council is hoping to fulfill its target of planting 5 Million tree seedlings in the 2024/25 planting season.

Chairperson of the Council, Chifungo Katoweka, said confirmed this at Ngodzi Ground in the area of Senior Chief Kambalame during the launch of the district’s Forestry Season, in collaboration with the World Relief Malawi.

“My plea to the Community is [that they must] ensure that the trees are well taken care of until their maturity,” Katoweka said.

This year’s season was launched by the State President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera on 18 January, 2024 in Phalombe District.

This year’s season theme is “Forest Innovation in Action: Reforestation for a sustainable tomorrow”.
