POLICE NAB 2 EX-CONVICTS OVER THEFT ALLEGATIONS

Police in Mangochi have arrested Nuru Mustafa and Noel Maonga for allegedly breaking into a block at St. Augustine 3 Primary School where they allegedly stole assorted items worth K66.5 million.

Spokesperson for Mangochi Police, Amina Tepani Daudi, says the two are ex-convicts and are believed to have committed the offence in the early hours of February 5, 2024 within the township of Mangochi.

She adds that a team of detectives swiftly responded and successfully arrested the duo on the same day in the afternoon at Chiponde Trading Centre.

Both had been released from prison last year for similar offences.

They will appear before a court to answer charges of breaking into a building and committing a felony.

Mustafa hails from Mtalimanja Village while Maonga comes from Samama Village, both in Traditional Authority Mponda in Mangochi.
