Lilongwe-based group, Glorious Hope Ministries, is confident that its sophomore album ‘Ndidza Msanga’ will impact positively on people’s lives, while drawing them closer to God through their melodies.
Speaking when launching the album at Gologota Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Lilongwe’s Area 23 Township, the group’s incumbent chairperson Victor Kagone said it felt good living the dream; attributing the latest milestone to God.
“Everything about this milestone has God’s fingerprints all over. We can’t be grateful enough. It’s been a long journey, and I’m glad, it’s been worth the wait,” he said.
Host of the day Cathy Kachipande ensured a lively atmosphere as she frequently engaged the audience.
Among the curtain-raisers were Area 47-based Whispers of Love of the Osasunthika fame who are also set to launch their album in a fortnight, the evergreen Orion Singers and Beyond the Borders Women’s Choir, who both dazzled with their high energy singing. They understood their assignment to the letter.
When the Glorious Hope Ministries finally took to the stage, they dished out their numbers such as Chikondi Chopambana, Mukhale Ndi Ine and M’chaka Kamodzi. Radiating confidence and dazzling in their attires, they received a standing ovation as the audience was left in awe at the five-star performance before them.
Former Post Master General Andrew Kumbatira, who was the guest of honour, heaped praises on the group.
“This is truly inspiring. I mean to have such a group of young people this organized and focused, is impressive. Such acts deserves all the support we can muster—both as a community and individuals alike,” he said.
According to the group’s co-founder Fatsani Gunya, it was established to help provide a voice and a platform for the voiceless within church and the surrounding community, and in the process enriching congregational praise and worship experience.
Gunya explained: “Over the years, we have predominantly operated within the youth demographic, many of whom have been students at surrounding vocational training institutes and secondary schools. As a result, our membership has remained fluid; with close to 60 individuals or more having contributed their talents and dedication to our cause over the past decade,” he added.
