Commissioner for the Department of Disaster Risk Management Affairs, Reverend Moses Chimphepo, has assured communities that the construction of Muona Primary School in Nsanje North Constituency will be finalised before the opening of the new school calendar this year.
He said this during a meeting with the community on the progress of the project at Muona in the Area of Senior Chief Mlolo in Nsanje District.
“The works have been delayed due to a number of reasons, but be assured that the Government is committed to making sure that this project is finalised before the opening of the first term in September this year,” Chimphepo said.
He therefore advised the community to take a leading role in the implementation of the project.
Nsanje District Education Officer, Dalitso Chapita, said the number of learners at the institution has gone down due to a lack of proper structures.
Senior Chief Mlolo pledged continued Community support towards the project.
“We are very grateful that the projects have commenced and materials for the construction have arrived at the construction site. We thank the President, Dr Lazarus Chakwera, for allocating resources for the construction of the school,” added Senior Chief Mlolo
Muona Primary School is undergoing reconstruction with K525 million from the Presidential Charity Initiative.
