Member of Parliament for Dowa North East Constituency, Sam Kawale has warned contractors against erecting substandard structures.
He was speaking in Dowa at Chimbanzi CDSS during the groundbreaking ceremony of an ICT laboratory, which is part of the Connect a School Project by the Malawi Communications Regularly Authority (MACRA).
Kawale, who is also Minister of Agriculture, said it is unfortunate that some contractors have not done a good job in areas where they had been assigned.
He has since urged community members to be fully involved and to participate during project implementation, saying sustainability of any project relies on ownership.
Head-teacher at Chimbanzi CDSS, Lawrence Samuel Mtembe, said the laboratory will, among others, help them keep the school data.
About 75 schools countrywide will benefit from the project.
