Malawi Beach Soccer delays departure for AFCON Qualifier

Malawi Beach Soccer National team has failed to leave the country this afternoon for Burundi for Saturday’s 2024 Beach Soccer AFCON Qualifier due to travel logistical challenges, the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has confirmed.

Malawi is set to face Burundi in the first leg of the qualifiers on Saturday, with the return leg scheduled for the following Saturday in Salima.

However, the team failed to secure timely documentation for layover visas in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where they were expected to spend a night tomorrow before connecting to Bujumbura on Thursday.

In a statement issued by FAM on their Facebook Page, they mentioned they are currently working on new travel arrangements to ensure the team leaves tomorrow for the important match.
