First Lady of Malawi, Madam Monica Chakwera, is in Tanzania where she is attending a first ladies conference organized by the Merck Foundation.
The 11th edition of Merck Foundation Africa – Asia Luminary, which has started today, is expected to end tomorrow.
Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan is presiding over the conference today.
Madam Chakwera is the ambassador for Merck Foundation’s More than a Mother Initiative where, among others, they are working together to demystify fertility challenges and promote girl child education.
The conference in Tanzania has attracted at least 15 first ladies from across the Africa region.
