Inflation rate drops in February

Headline inflation has dropped by 1.5 percentage points to 33.5 in February 2024 from 35 percent in the preceding month of January.

The drop is on the account of a decrease in food inflation.

Food inflation has dropped to 42 percent in February from 44.9 percent in January.

The Reserve Bank of Malawi raised the policy rate to 26 percent with the aim of containing rising inflation rate.
