In a bid to enhance the private sector’s engagement in climate action and promote the growth of the green economy, government has through the Ministry of Natural Resources and Climate Change and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) launched Malawi Country Road map for the Africa Green Business and Financing Initiative.
Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Climate Change, Yusuf Mkungula says the move underscores government’s commitment to greening the economy.
UNDP Resident Representative, Fenella Frost has described the initiative as a testament to the strong partnership between UNDP and Malawi in realising the country’s vision of a greener and more climate-resilient future.
Meanwhile, the Malawi Environmental Protection Authority (MEPA) has awarded climate change grants to the district councils of Mulanje, Dedza, Salima and Rumphi to support the government’s efforts in addressing climate change.
