Floods cut off M5 bridges

The Roads Authority has urged all road users in Nkhotakota and across the country to take extra precautions due to the impassable conditions of the M5 road (Lakeshore), where three bridges have been washed away due to floods.

Speaking in an interview with MBC, Public Relations Manager for the Roads Authority, Portia Kajanga, said emergency contractors are already mobilising on the site to start works as soon as water levels go down.

In this regard, the Authority recommends that all travellers heading from Nkhotakota to the Northern Region divert to the M1 road.
