‘Eid ul-Adha demonstrates faith, unity’

As Muslims across the world continue to celebrate Eid ul-Adha, Sheikh Abada Hassan of Dedza Thiwi Mosque has said the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail was a demonstration of faith which also fosters unity.

Sheikh Hassan said Qurbani (sacrifice) is a deeply important Islamic ritual that commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son, Ismail, for God’s sake.

“It is a demonstration of faith, submission and charity, with the meat of the sacrificed animal shared with family, friends and the needy, fostering unity and empathy within the Muslim community,” he said.

On politics, Sheikh Hassan called on spirants to refrain uttering hate speeches, among others, during the campaign period.

“This behaviour can bring division, contrary to the teaching of Islam. Let us unite to pray for the peace of our nation,” he observed.

Village Head Person Salati of Traditional Authority Kaphuka in Dedza hailed the Muslim community for supporting non-Muslims with food items during the celebration.
