Dedza District Council elects new chairperson

Dedza District Council has elected Stanley Manasseh as their chairperson while Joseph Kwenda has been voted as the vice chairperson.

In his acceptance speech, Manasseh said he will work diligently to ensure development projects finishes in the stipulated time.

He added that he will work to improve relationship between the council and marketing committees in all market places to enhance revenue collection.

District Commissioner for Dedza, Thomas Chigwenembe, expressed his expectation that the newly elected Chairperson and Vice Chairperson will support the council in increasing revenue collection from marketplaces.

“Our current collection rate stands at 60 percent, so we need to improve the council’s operations,” he explained.
