Malawi has been commended for its resilience to climate-induced disasters.
Head of Public Health and Disaster Resilience in the office of the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Alison Raw said this upon completion of her visit to Malawi.
Raw said she had heard for herself the stories of Malawians who have been directly affected by cyclones.
” Very touching stories and I must say that Malawians are very happy and resilient people,” Raw said.
Raw said the Commonwealth will come up with a comprehensive plan on how to assist Malawi and the results will also be a point of reference at the 2024 CHOGM meeting later in the year.
Commenting on the visit, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Michael Usi, said the team was here on his invitation.
He said after the visit, the Commonwealth will then strategize on how to assist Malawi.
