CHINA PLEDGES CONTINUED SUPPORT TO MALAWI

The Chinese Government has pledged to support Malawi’s development agenda.

This was disclosed on the sidelines of the 15th BRICS Summit in Sandton South Africa, when President Dr Lazarus Chakwera held a bilateral meeting with Chinese President, Xi Jinping.

The President said the discussion cemented ties between the two countries and that their meeting will help spur Malawi’s infrastructural development and macroeconomic stability.

Dr Chakwera has commended President Xi for his administration’s continued development and humanitarian support to the country, including Beijing’s recent aid in the face of the Cyclone Freddy-induced devastation.

The President further said China has pledged to support the country’s efforts in building resilience against climate change shocks and that it will help the country achieve its developmental aspirations.
