President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has been named as International Development Association (IDA) Africa Champion for the Southern African Development Community region (SADC).
Reacting to the appointment, Dr Chakwera said he will utilise his position to urge partners and financiers of the World Bank to increase investments to address the growing climatic and economic challenges in developing countries.
Chakwera said his interest will be investments in job creation, as well as economic initiatives targeting youth and women in SADC countries.
World Bank Group President Ajay Banga reaffirmed the Bank’s strong support for the future of the African continent.
