Youth Net and Counselling (YONECO) is engaging over 50 young people from the border communities of Traditional Authorities (T/As) Katuli, Bwananyambi, and Makanjira in Mangochi District to become agents of peace.
The initiative is part of a Peace Building Fund Project implemented by YONECO in the areas, aiming to strengthen peace and prevent conflicts within borderland communities.
YONECO Mangochi District Manager, Funny Chilembo, encouraged the youths to avoid violence as the country approaches the 2025 General Election.
The project, funded by the Secretary General’s Peace Building Fund through the United Nations Population Fund, addresses issues like human trafficking, child marriage, and gender-based violence, which could potentially fuel conflicts.
