Police in Mangochi have arrested 24-year-old Junior M’bwana on allegations that he is a serial cellphone and money thief who pounced on various women trapped through love affairs.
Public Relations Officer for Mangochi Police, Amina Tepani Daudi said M’bwana was nabbed on February 12, 2024, through an intelligence-driven operation by police detectives.
Daudi says the suspect was using an alias of “Richard Chesani” on Facebook and has been stealing from women in various districts.
The latest incident was when the accused stole a Redmi Note 10 cellphone worth K250,000 from an unsuspecting woman from Nsanje, who fell through the same trap but reported the matter to law enforcers who swiftly arrested him.
M’bwana hails from Wadali Village, Traditional Authority Katuli in Mangochi, and is also wanted by other Police Posts in Lilongwe for similar offences.
