Organisers of the Tumaini Festival are planning a fundraising cocktail night on August 30, 2024, in Lilongwe, in preparation for the festival in October.
Event Assistant, Sbusiswe Chasweka, said most preparations for the Tumaini Festival’s 10th anniversary are now advanced, with organisers promising a grand celebration in October at Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Dowa District.
Chasweka stressed that the festival is committed to showcasing cultural diversity and advocating for refugee rights and economic inclusion.
The non-profit festival, a cultural exchange hub for the past decade, has welcomed over 129,000 attendees and featured 304 performing acts from around the world.
It has also economically transformed the lives of over 6,000 refugees through proceeds generated from the event.
