Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima has urged the corporate world to support the Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS) in raising funds totalling K160 million to assist people facing challenges.
Dr Chilima made the call on Monday morning after leading the Cycling for Humanity event in Lilongwe, a two-day marathon where cyclists will ride from Lilongwe to Blantyre.
The Vice President commended Diplomats Car Hire and Ekhaya Farms for their contributions of K7.5 million and K5 million, respectively, and he went on to donate K1.5 million.
President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, who is the patron of MRCS, initiated Flag Week with a donation of K2 million at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe last Friday.
