Soldiers donate to Kamuzu Central Hospital

Soldiers and their spouses from Kamuzu Barracks have donated assorted items and donated blood to Kamuzu Central Hospital as part of celebrations marking 50 years of their existence.

Commanding Officer for 2 Malawi Rifles, Lieutenant Colonel Richard Maulana, said the exercise was a way of reaching out to the community.

“We are reaching out to communities that we have been with for the past 50 years. That is why we are here to donate blood, sweep and donate assorted items to patients,” said Maulana.

Spokesperson for Kamuzu Central Hospital, Winnie Yotamu, commended the gesture by the soldiers, saying it will assist patients at the hospital as well as help prevent infectious diseases.
