Police in Phalombe District have arrested three men for allegedly attempting to steal a 20-foot container that was used as a shack at Nkhulambe Clinic.
The suspects have been identified as Patrick Chatika, Harrison Njatula and Chikondi Kachepa.
Phalombe Police spokesperson, Jimmy Kapanja, says the driver of the lorry that was being used to aid the crime at the clinic, had an assistant.
The clinic was not used after Cyclone Freddy wreaked havoc in March 2022.
According to Kapanja, the two failed to show documentation, insisting that they were sent by the owner of the vehicle to collect the container.
“These suspects failed to show documents, instead they said verbally that they had been sent by the owner of that said vehicle (Lorry Leyland DAF Registration number RU 3272) who by then was in Blantyre,” he said, adding that the owner was arrested on Monday.
