Education authorities have been urged to incorporate climate risk management into their plans and operations to build and promote resilience in schools.
Afonso Laurent, Chief Education Officer in the Ministry of Education made the remarks during the opening of a two-day workshop of resilient schools capacity in Blantyre.
Laurent stressed that climate change-induced disasters disrupt school operations, hence the need for schools to develop emergency action plans.
The workshop will also showcase best practices and local innovative approaches to building resilient schools to ensure that emergencies do no disrupt learning.
The workshop has been organised by Link Education under Climate Just Communities project.
