Rotary International (RI), a global service organisation, has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Malawi in addressing challenges such as climate change, healthcare and education.
RI president, Gordon Mclnally, said this during the commissioning of radiology and ultrasound equipment at Blessings Hospital in Lumbadzi, Lilongwe.
The hospital, founded by philanthropist Napoleon Dzombe, serves a catchment of over 35,000 people.
Dzombe has since lauded RI for equipping the facility with the state-of-the-art equipment that will see it offering critical services, including heart imaging, examining unborn children and assessing abdominal organs.
Funded by the Rotary Foundation through the Rotary of Bwaila Lilongwe, the refurbishment and equipping of the hospital’s radiology room amounted to over $66,000.
Mclnally arrived in the country on Tuesday and his itinerary includes meetings with Lilongwe City Mayor, visits to healthcare facilities like Kamuzu Central Hospital, Bwaila Hospital’s specialised units, Mphungu Primary School, which demonstrates RI’s holistic approach to community development.
