PIL donates solar-powered water pump to Malomo Health Centre

Petroleum Importers Limited (PIL) has donated a solar-powered water pump worth over K7 million to Malomo Health Centre in Ntchisi District in a bid to address water and sanitation challenges at the facility.

PIL General Manager, Martin Msimuko, emphasised that access to safe and clean water significantly improves healthcare services, particularly in rural areas where access to clean water is a challenge.

“Health centers play a critical role in the well-being of our people, and ensuring they have the necessary resources is crucial,” Msimuko said.

In-charge at Malomo Health Centre, Zuze Khonde, praised PIL for the donation.

Khonde added that in the past guardians had to walk long distances to fetch water from Mbomba area leaving patients unattended.

Malomo Health Centre serves a population of over 60,000 people and receives approximately 500 patients daily.
