November will be observed annually as National Education Month, Education Minister, Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima, has confirmed.
Wirima revealed this in Lilongwe on Thursday during a Press Briefing ahead of the commemorations of the 2024 World Teachers Day slated for 25 October 2024.
She said the country is making history by dedicating an entire month to education since the initiative aligns with Agenda 2063’s aspirations and the African Union’s Year of Education.
“National Education Month will be an annual event on Malawi’s National calendar, dedicated to celebrating achievements, addressing challenges, and fostering dialogue around the future of education in Malawi,” Wirima said.
The 2024 World Teachers Day will be celebrated under the theme “Valuing Teachers’ Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education”.
At the event, Over 100 educators across the country will be awarded for their outstanding contributions as the best teachers in Malawi.
