Struggling Super League team, Chitipa United, remains optimistic that it will raise funds needed for its operations for the entire 2024 football season.
The team’s chairperson, Fidelis Kambalame, believes that “people of good will and corporate entities” will continue to support their activities.
Among the planned fundraising activities is a dinner and dance event this Saturday in Chitipa District.
It will feature Mapenenga dances and a performance by renowned musician, Driemo.
“The team has no sponsor, so we are hoping that the dinner and dance will help us raise the funds for the club. We are on a quest to raise K215 million for the club for the entire season and we have had donations from people and institutions. We will give a better picture of how much we have raised since we started the drive to raise K215 million after the dinner and dance,” said Kambalame.
Currently, Chitipa United are second from the bottom on the 16-member log table, with five points from 10 games.
They have a home assignment against Creck Sporting on Sunday.
