Ministry of Health is set to conduct a headcount on newly recruited health workers to flag out those who have not yet reported for duty.
Minister of Health, Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda, said this in response to a question from Member of Parliament for Machinga Likwenu, Bright Msaka, who pointed out that two clinics in his constituency are idle due to a lack of personnel.
The Ministry recruited 8,000 health workers earlier this year to address gaps in the availability of specialised medical personnel like nurses and doctors despite many not taking up their assignments.
Chiponda added that the ministry will fill in the vacancies once it establishes the number of medical personnel who have not reported for duty.
