Media key in economic growth – Oxfam

Oxfam’s Southern Africa Media and Communication Lead, Daud Kayisi, says the media has a key role in promoting economic empowerment.

Kayisi made the remarks at the opening of Oxfam’s two-day workshop which aims to amplify the voices of smallholder farmers.

“By empowering media professionals, we seek to increase awareness about the challenges and opportunities faced by smallholder farmers, particularly women and youth, and promote their economic empowerment,” Kayisi said.

The workshop, held in Salima, brings together journalists and media editors to enhance their knowledge and skills in advocating for policy changes and best agriculture practices.

The project is being implemented by Oxfam in collaboration with the Catholic Development Commission in Malawi, and Circle for Integrated Community Development, with funding from Flanders.
