The Deputy Minister of Health Halima Daud says the Seventh Day Adventist Health Network will send 20 surgeons to treat patients with cardiac cases in the country.
Daud and some representatives of the Adventist Health Institute from Malawi are in California, U.S.A. where they attended the 2023 Global Healthcare Conference.
Daud also visited Loma Linda University International Heart Institute, where she met a team of over 20 heart surgeons coming to Malawi for a cardiac camp next month at Blantyre Adventist Hospital.
They are expected to screen and operate for free people needing heart surgery.
The Deputy Minister commended the initiative saying it will help reduce the number of people seeking cardiac surgery abroad.
The team comprises cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiologists, intensive care specialists, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, cardiac nurses and others.
The 2023 Global Health Conference was held at the SDA’s Loma Linda University of Health under the theme: ‘Reflections, Renewal and Resolutions.’
