Malawi College of Accountancy (MCA) and the Musicians Union of Malawi (MUM) have launched an initiative aimed at improving the welfare of musicians in the country.
The initiative, called Developing Artist Niches in Creative Enterprises (DANCE), seeks to equip musicians with essential financial management and business skills.
MCA will be providing financial literacy training to musicians under MUM.
George Kaudza, MCA Blantyre Campus Director, said this is one way of addressing financial challenges that musicians face.
“It is sad to see some musicians struggling financially yet they contribute to the development of the country. As such, it is essential to invest in their well being,” Masina said.
MUM president, Vita Chirwa, said the initiative will make a profound impact in the music industry.
He said others should help support such initiatives to ensure that it is extended to other artistic fields.
