A Mathematics teacher at Mantega Primary School in Dedza District, Yesaya Kaunda, has received K500,000 and groceries worth K100,000 from Green Villages, a real estate company, after 151 of his students scored Grade A in the 2024 Primary School Leaving Certificate Examinations.
Kaunda attributed his success to the strong cooperation between the school management, the students’ hard work and the support from the local community learning facility.
“In 2023 I was given a residential plot 15m by 30m valued at K3 million. I am speechless,” he said.
Green Villages’ Head of Sales and Marketing, Richard Mallewa, said it pleased their company to support Kaunda’s dedication and commitment for the exceptional performance of the learners.
Dedza District Council Education Service Committee Chairperson, Francis Chimpikizo, hailed the firm for complementing the council’s role in motivating the teachers in the District.
Malawi Girl Guides Association Chief Commissioner, Gertrude Binali-Ndhlovu, described the good performance of girls in Mathematics as a good development since most usually shy-away from science subjects.
