Mandevana urges  Nsanje Central to rally behind President Chakwera, MCP

Aspiring Member of Parliament for Nsanje Central Constituency, Kafandikhale Mandevana, has urged constituents to rally behind President Dr Lazarus Chakwera and the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) in the forthcoming 16 September General Election.

Speaking after presenting his nomination papers ,  Mandevana said President Chakwera’s leadership has shown clear commitment to inclusive development, citing ongoing national projects and policy reforms aimed at uplifting rural communities.

“The Chakwera administration means well for Malawi, and Nsanje Central is no exception,” said Mandevana. “We have seen development projects beginning to reach areas that were long neglected. This is not the time to turn back; it’s time to consolidate progress by voting MCP back into power.”

Mandevana further commended the Malawi Congress Party’s manifesto proposal to increase the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) from the current K200 million to K500 million, describing it as a game changer for underdeveloped constituencies such as Nsanje Central.

“With this  increase in the CDF, we will be able to implement tangible, community-driven development projects in health, education, agriculture, and road infrastructure,” he said, while appealing to the electorate to vote for him as their next MP in order to bring the proposed interventions to life.

The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) set 30 July 2025 as the final day for receiving nomination papers from all aspiring candidates in the parliamentary and presidential races ahead of the 16 September polls.

Mandevana is among several candidates vying for the Nsanje Central seat, a constituency that has remained a political battleground in past elections. He is banking on grassroots mobilisation and the MCP’s development track record to secure a win.

The upcoming general elections will be Malawi’s first after the 2020 court-sanctioned presidential rerun, and political parties have intensified their campaigns across the country.
