President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has commended the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for supporting Malawi in digital transformation, which he said is key to achieving the Malawi 2063.
Dr Chakwera was speaking in New York, United States of America after having an audience with UNDP Administrator, Achim Steiner at his office.
Dr Chakwera thanked UNDP for what it is doing in Malawi, particularly in driving digital transformation, empowering women in government and supporting inclusive elections.
“The electronic ID is paving the way for digital inclusion and a digital economy that empowers women, youth and vulnerable groups,” said Dr Chakwera.
Steiner, UNDP’s administrator reiterated the organisation’s commitment to accompany Malawi in developing clean energy solutions, including electric vehicles and a transition to a green economy.
