Ntchisi District Council says the National Addressing System (NAS) project by the Malawi Regulatory Authority (MACRA) will lift the district towards modern standards.
The district council’s Chairperson, Councilor Marko Mphenzi Mtengo, said this on Wednesday after a NAS presentation by MACRA to the district council’s Executive Committee and stakeholders.
MACRA Director of Postal and E-Commerce, Kondwani Kachika, said the project, which is being implemented across the country, is long overdue as most countries already rolled it out.
He said MACRA will work with local authorities to establish awareness committees within communities.
Councilor Mphenzi Mtengo said: “This is quite a commendable development. Honestly, I didn’t know that every location, including my house, could have its specific physical address.”
