LL Police recovers 248 stolen bags, arrests four

Police at Chitipi in Lilongwe have recovered 248 bags of maize worth K9.9 million that were stolen at a certain farm in Mpingu by four suspects who have been arrested.

The four, identified as Lonjezo Landirani, 23, George James, 30, Lemison Cheza, 24, and Ahmad Wasili, 49, will answer a case of breaking and theft.

However, 12 suspects are still on the run and Police have since launched a manhunt.

On 24 July, 2024, the robbers tied watchmen at the farm and broke into a warehouse, going away with the bags weighing 50 Kilogrammes each.

Investigations by detectives led to the arrest of some suspects and recovery of the bags that were sold in various locations.
