Department of Public Works in the Lilongwe District Council says it has completed 50 infrastructure developmental projects between 2021 and 2024.
The projects, which include the construction of health centers, maternity wings, schools, bridges, and police units, are part of efforts to close the infrastructural gap between rural and urban areas.
Director of Public Works for the council, Sydney Chiphaka says the council is set to hand over the last phase, which includes 17 projects of the 50 projects, by December this year.
Chiphaka highlighted that all of these developments were in response to requests from rural communities, with some requests dating back as far as 10 to 20 years.
