Let’s work hard and be patriotic – Usi

Vice President Dr Michael Usi has called on chaplains across Malawi to lead efforts in instilling national development goals and core values, aiming for the country’s aspirations by 2063.

Dr Usi, among others, implored the chaplains to help create public understanding of the strategy and values of hard work, integrity, and patriotism for Malawi.

The Vice President made the remarks at the opening of the Council of Chaplaincy Ministry’s Conference, Dr Usi urged chaplains to foster public understanding of hard work, integrity, and patriotism to drive development.

“Please help us instil a sense of patriotism and integrity among our people, including the civil service and politicians,” said Usi.

Mavuto Chipeta, Executive Director of the Council of Chaplaincy Ministry, assured the Vice President that chaplains have accepted the task of playing a crucial role in changing people’s mindsets.

Thomas Munthali of the National Planning Commission asked the clergy to stop preaching about “miracle money” as this fuels laziness among Malawians.

During the function, Dr Usi was given a special medal for championing mindset change and encouraging Malawians to work hard in the attainment of the agriculture, tourism, and mining strategy.
