Jalira Girls Secondary School to broaden girls’ dreams

Headteacher for the newly opened high-end Jalira Girls Secondary School in  Rumphi, Maggie Chima, says the school will offer subjects that are not offered in other national secondary schools such as music, art and design.

Chima said while the subjects are not examinable, they will provide an opportunity for girls to explore their talents in addition to their academic pursuits.

The national school for girls will now have a total of 104 students, including 70 students who have been selected in the 2024/25 school calendar.

Group Village Headman Jalira said the school will provide employment opportunities and improve access to education in the district and the nation at large.

Construction for the national secondary school was launched by First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera in June 2022.
