Female students from the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) have hailed Standard Bank Malawi for empowering them to showcase their skills in a tech competition called ‘the hackathon’.
Speaking at the MUST campus in Thyolo, student Akuzike Mazulu stated that ‘the hackathon’ has boosted students’ confidence in science courses.
The competition involved sixteen girls divided into four groups, tasked with offering solutions such as an automated transfer form, a branch attendance register digitisation and an automated policy tracker.
Pempho Chalamanda, the Head of Commercial Banking for Standard Bank Malawi, said they look forward to supporting solutions students have developed.
Digital Hive team emerged first in the competition, followed by Hack Heroes team, pocketing K400,000 and K300,000 respectively.
